Achievements and Aspirations
Sessay Cricket Club has a long and proud history which the current committee is striving hard to build upon. Our cricket club is one of only a small minority in North Yorkshire to achieve ECB Clubmark accreditation which means that the Club meets or surpasses certain standards of practice laid down by the ECB (cricket’s governing body). Developing young talent is the Club’s means of maintaining it’s long term future. We aim to make training sessions progressive and enjoyable in a safe, family orientated environment. The vast majority of the current first team have progressed through the junior system.
A true strength of the club is the wide geographical area from which it draws its members making it a rich environment in terms of both sporting and social development. This is enhanced by the steadily increasing number of women and girls who participate in training, play in age group teams on merit and are keeping pace with the boys when it comes to selection at representative level.
Two years ago a semi-formal junior sub-committee was established; Junior Forums are open meetings for coaches, players and parents/carers, held periodically to inform and assist the development of an ever expanding junior section. This success has created the need for more ‘playing space’. Sessay CC with Sessay Primary School, Parish Council and other local bodies is working on the Club’s ambition of being able to create a second ground as an extension to the current one.
